The bad news is a part of our lives.

And negativity grinds away at hope. The social media craze feeds bad news up on a silver platter.

Are we getting tired? As negativity and hopeless stories permeate our screens it also invades our soul.

We must connect to genuine hope – real hope.

Every human being needs genuine hope.

Abraham Miller eloquently coined these words; “a man begins to die when he ceases to expect anything from tomorrow.

True hope is permanent.

One of our acquaintances recently lost a loved one to suicide. The loss was devastating and unsuspected. The reason. Loss of hope. True hope is connected to the eternal. True hope is found in Christ.

Biblical hope is the single most powerful force in the earth.

Without biblical hope, dreams die, and people end up hopeless.

Biblical Hope is not:

1. WORDLY HOPE

Worldly hope is the hope we develop in possibilities. These hopes are often wishy-washy and based on what might happen. Things like I wish I could win the lottery. Nothing wrong with wanting to win the lottery, but you have a better chance of being struck by lightning!

So, what happens when you don’t win?  Do you lose all hope?  If so, this means we are placing too much hope in temporary things.  This is more like a fantasy that hope. And false hope can even go deeper. This is the kind of hope that has no substance, based on wishes and wants.

2. EXPECTANT HOPE

Expectant hope can be positive and resembles the kind of hope we have when hoping we have a baby.  God’s hope is not laced in expectation but in true confirmation. This is what we call biblical hope.

Biblical hope is a confident expectation and knowing of what is promised. Biblical hope is attached to confident anticipation, not just an expectancy.

And there is a better hope.

The hope of the believer is known as ANCHORED HOPE

Anchored hope is connected to our Creator and His Son, Jesus.  This is true hope. Hope that is linked to faith.  The kind of faith that is connected to God our Father and based on steadfast promises from Father God.

Hebrews 6:17-20 (The Message)

When God wanted to guarantee his promises, he gave his word, a rock-solid guarantee—God can’t break his word. And because his word cannot change, the promise is likewise unchangeable. We who have run for our very lives to God have every reason to grab the promised hope with both hands and never let go. It’s an unbreakable spiritual lifeline, reaching past all appearances right to the very presence of God where Jesus, running on ahead of us, has taken up his permanent post as high priest for us, in the order of Melchizedek.

God’s hope is traced to a promise. The promise of His love. This hope is based upon a God who loves you and has a hope for you.

Jeremiah 29:11 (NKV)

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

The world needs hope. Your friends need hope. The single mother needs hope. The divorced dad needs hope.

Hope shifts defeat into victory.

Hope thwarts our enemies.

Hope sheds light on darkness.

Hope shifts perspective.

Those who possess the most hope possess the highest influence!
